Krispymcnugget18 0 Posted January 5, 2009 Hey guys! My name is Kristin Seely. I live in western washington and i'm 18 years old. I'm scheduled to have my surgery on January 14th. I have Dr.Lauter, does anyone know him? It would be an understatement to say that i'm a little nervous. I'm not too worried about the actual surgery, I just REALLY want this to work. I'm so tired of being overweight and not fitting in at my high school. I'm also a little unsure about the recovery after the surgery. I'm going to have to go back to P.E the week after my surgery and i'm hoping i'll be able to participate? How long did it take for you guys to recover and be able to walk around? I am really glad I found this site. I looked around it for awhile and found a lot of helpful information. Random question..did you guys have any trouble telling people about the surgery? I know my teacher is going to ask (when i miss a few days), and I don't know whether to tell him about it or not. Have a good day!
rodriguezequal 3 Posted January 5, 2009 I live in Washington too. I'm 22 and I know how you feel. You may be ready to do some light pe after a week, but everyone is different. If you don't want to tell people you had LapBand surgery you can always tell them you had to have your gallbladder removed or something, but really it's no ones business unless you choose to make it their business. I'm always around if you need to talk...oh by the way my name is Holli Good luck on your journey!!!
Krispymcnugget18 0 Posted January 5, 2009 You've already lost 55 pounds?! I heard that it wasn't a very fast weight loss..but i'm hoping it will be. How did you get so successful. Thanks for the encouragement!
rodriguezequal 3 Posted January 5, 2009 I think that it helps to be younger...but who knows. At first I was so scared to eat because I didn't want to get stuck or vomit or anything. I still have never gotten stuck or had any problems. You just have to believe in yourself. Believe that you are ready and that you're going to do it this time. It doesn't hurt to have help and support from friends and family. They say that the average weightloss is 1-2 pounds a week, but I haven't really been working out yet, except for some walking. Good luck...you can do it!
