Recommended Posts

I just had my surgery and I am always so hungry...I have not had a fill yet and the doctor says I get the first one in 4 to 6 weeks. I have lost 6 pounds and im very frustrated with the pain where the insicion is. Has anyone else felt this pain? Thanks:blushing:

Hi there!

Hang in there! It is very rough in the beginning.I'm almost 8 weeks out now and am finally really to start to feel "normal" again.I too had alot of pain & hunger in the beginning. It gets better and easier.

I'm still sore from time to time at my incision site and do still experience hunger but nothing unbearable.I have only had 1 fill of .5cc.And am due to see my doc on Jan 14th for another fill.I've lost almost 40 alltogether, they made me lose before surgery 10 lbs.

One thing I'm learning is this is a "learning" experience. And you will figure it out.Just hang in there one day at a time and soon the weight will be coming off and you too will be feeling great!!

Keep reading the website & asking lots of questions,,there is alot of valuable info here!!

Take care & know your not alone we've all been there!! :)

I like you am hungry most of the time too. I had my surgery on Dec. 19th and will get my first fill on Jan.21st. As far as incision pain, the only problem I have had is I have a knot up under the incision where they put the port in. I am not sure if this is actually the port or maybe where it is healing around the port??????? I don't know. Is it easy for you to feel your port when you feel around? Is this the incision where your pain is coming from?

Welcome to bandster hell! This is the period when you have to stick to the plan that your dr has given you. It will be awhile before you feel real restriction from your band. You will feel hungry and you have to find ways to work through it.

Even though you feel hungry make sure that you follow the plan that your dr gave you. Stay on liquids, move to mushies and regular food as directed. You want to protect your band and let it heal.

I found that after the first couple of fills I would have good restriction for 4-5 days and then things would really loosen up again and I would be back to sheer will power.

As far as the pain, make sure you take your pain meds as directed. Over time the pain will subside. Make sure you are up and moving and drinking your water! That seemed to be the thing that helped me get through the first couple of weeks.

Congrats on your band!

I am in the same boat with you! I called my hospital nurse and they allowed me 1/4 c of Protein shake 3x a day and that has helped me a lot. I actually have some energy now! I would call and ask your doctor tomorrow- everyone's doctor is different, but my doc said I should not be suffering. Doesn't hurt to give them a call!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
