Slipage or just overdoing it???

Recommended Posts

:tt2: Im freaking out here! Ever since my last fill in October, the throwing up episodes are more frequent. For the past 4 days or so, ive been really sore and swollen and can hardly keep anything down. I do keep liquids down, but when i try to slip in a little mushie food, the reflux starts and the burning intensifies. Then i resort to the toothbrush down the throat to bring up anything that will come up, which makes my left side so sore i have to lay down with a heating pad. Im going to the Dr's Monday for an unfill, but after reading all these "slip" articles, im starting to panic. Does anyone know the true symptoms of a band slipage?? Help!!!

Okay, I haven't got a band, but I can tell you that all the band docs say that throwing up is not normal and if you are throwing up you have to see them immediately. You are probably just overfilled but you stay overfilled for too long, it *will* lead to slippage.

So call your doc on Monday and let us know what the response it!

Hi my symptoms of slippage were reflux during the day sometimes, but every night would wake up caughing bringing up bits of food or would wake up with liquid coming out of my nose. I was too tight for to long and I think this is what caused the sliip and stretched pouch, I kept telling my Doc I was to tight but he would only take a bit out at a time. Make sure you get an unfill to the point that you have no reflux at all. Good Luck.

Hi

My symtoms were similar to the above, but I was in a great deal of pain and could not even swallow my own saliva.

I think with luck you are just over filled.

Definately get a de-fill if poss with Xray so they can check all is ok.

Please dont leave it any longer as it can lead to serious complications.

On the other hand it can so easily be sorted out.

Let us know how you get on.

Take care

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
