One year update

Recommended Posts

Congrats everyone!! I am so glad to hear about people successes.

I will have been banded for one year on 1/24/09. I can't believe how different my life has been this past year. I have lost 65lbs since my surgery and I feel great. I have gone from a size 32/34 to a 22/24. I go to the gym at least 3 times per week usually. I just had to have my gall bladder removed 1/16/09 and I remember after my lap band surgery when I had to relax and do nothing for a week it was much easier than it has been this time. I am completly board and I can't wait to get back to the gym and start doing things again.

This whole new way of living is great. Its no longer about food but its about living my life to its fullest.

This year I hope to continue loosing the wieght and getting more and more healthy. I also am looking forward to getting pregnant and having a healthy preganancy. I will be 29 next month and feel younger then I did at 25.

The band has been the best thing I have ever done for myself and would recommend it to anyone.

I had my anniversay saturday, 17th.. I'm down 111 pounds.. Never would have thought this would happen. I shop for clothes and doesn't need a bunch of "X"s in front. har!! I'm in a 22/20 size and I think my shoes are getting to big, is that possible? I have my up days and down days.. but I wouldn't trade any of it!! Keep up the good work everyone..

Congratulations Gingerbug!!!WTG!!! and on your bandaversart too. Celebration is in order, go get yourself another pair of size 12.

WOW - I agree. I still feel like I haven't changed much also. I usually don't take the time to look but a few times I was pleasantly surprised.

Suzanne My doctor said I was a "success story" and is throwing me to the wolves. He wants to see my in 3 months for a follow-up. But I still have 25-30lbs to lose. My goal is to see my feet in the shower.

Dazzle - I've struggled all year with my band so I really understand. But hang in there.

Bandana, I know exactly how you feel. Mine basically told me if I wanted to lose more, I'd have to "diet" it off. It appears he was right. I can't just skate along like I have so far, my weight isn't going anywhere.

I'm trying to get back to following the band rules more strictly and cut out the Snacks I've allowed myself to have.

I'll get this last 15 pounds off or die trying! LOL

Suzanne

Skating along is a great way to put it. But there's no more skating here. I'm trying to chew, chew, chew. Let me ask you - do you every feel full for hours after you eat???

I stay full about 3-4 hours after a meal. I've been so careful this week, only to be rewarded with a 1/2 pound GAIN this morning! Grrrrrr I'm thinking about going to WW this weekend.

Congratulations All!

It is so great to hear all of your stories. I can relate to many of them. I too struggle with seeing myself in the mirror as "normal" my Dr. says it takes awhile for the brain to catch up with the image. But my co-workers are all very good at letting me know how "skinny" I am. It is so amazing to go into a regular store and pick up a size 10/12 and have it fit. One year ago I was wearing size 26 and 3X. I know that maintaining will not always be easy, but it is great to have so much support on these boards. Thanks all for listening and keep up the great work!

Today is my Bandaversary! One year of band living. I've lost 86 lbs and I'm very excited about it, I'm at 164.. I know people have lost more in a year, but oh well. I hope I can lose 35 lbs more to get me to goal, but at a plateau. Need encouragment to exercise. Thanks for listening and I would appreciate your support.

Congradulations fellow bandsters. At my one year anniversary, I am down 75 lbs and am elated. I have a lot of problems eating lately, although I haven't been tightened in a long time. I have been loosened a month ago. I particulaily have problems drinking. I am worried that my band might have slipped. I am going to request an esophogram next week at my next appt. Good luck on continued success.

It looks like everyone is doing great at their one year banaversaries. We all got to hang in there and reach out goals this year. Yeah!! Now I really should go exercise but I'm going to sit on the couch and watch 24.

I am happy to see all of your great outcomes. I know you must be elated. I know I would be. I have not done as well but I will keep on trying. I have lost some weight but have struggled in doing so. I would like some help if anyone can do so. I would like to maybe exchange emails or maybe post a message in my profile.

I too have not done soo well and with the new year am searching for help. ANYONE??? I still over eat and end up gettin sick because of it...what is wrong with me? How does everyone else do it?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
