362636 0 Posted January 3, 2009 I'm a 56 year young female, band October 2008 by Dr. Jamshid Nazarian in BH, CA. My weight at surgery was 200lbs. My weight today is 185lbs. My goal weight is 135. Although this is my first post to lap band talk, I've been reading as much as I can since finding and registering onto this site a few weeks ago. I researched the lap band procedure prior to surgery and received important basic information from my surgeon. However, this site and links from it have been a valuable source of information. I had my first fill Dec 23rd. I didn't feel any restriction post surgery and I don't feel any restriction now. However, I am not discouraged. I learned from reading the forums on "post op" and "adjustments" just what others experienced. I now have more comprehendsive understanding of the process and more specific questions to ask my doctor when I see him for my second fill, Jan 20th. Until then, I try to watch what I eat and carefully monitor my portions. To compensate for the holiday eating, I have voluntarily put myself on an intake of Liquid Protein for the next few days. Although I have had the band for 60 days now, I feel like I am just beginning and look forward to the 20th. I'm ready to feel restriction!
lojo 0 Posted January 3, 2009 Congrats on your weight loss so far!!! I had my procedure 12/11/08. I go for my first fill on 1/22. I can't wait. I don't feel any restriction and I too am trying to watch what I eat. I have done really well. I've got to get more focused on my walking. I have lost 12 lbs so far. I was hoping for more before my first feel. I was 210 going into surgery. Now I'm 198. I'm also 57 years old and this site has been very helpful and the resources are great. sandra267 0 Posted January 3, 2009 How much does you doctor put in for a fill? My doctor gave me a "small" fill that was 4cc due to an upcoming surgery. Reading the message board I have found that some doctors fill at 1.5 and some fill 7.0 on the first fill in a 10 band.
*slim* 2 Posted January 3, 2009 Hi. Congrats on your surgery and weight loss. I will tell you that restriction can take time. I am currently on my 3rd fill. Other than having to slow down when I eat, I don't really feel it. I have about 4cc in a 10cc band. I go for fill number 4 1/19. Every doctor is different with fill as well as every patient will feel them differently. A lot of doctors are conservative with the fills to allow you time to adjust to eating the bandster way. Just take your time. Remember not to mindlessly eat in front of th TV or computer. That is usually when I experience getting stuck. Also, don't really try to compare yourself and your fills. Each person's body is different so it might take more or it might take less fill for some people to actually fill restriction. Good luck to all of you!
