How do I know I've had a good fill?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Can anyone tell me about how I know I've hit the 'sweet spot'? Also, how many oz. of food should I be able to eat at one meal without feeling sick or stuck?

Thanks!

I personally feel like everyone's sweet spot is different. I know my Doc/Nut said I should not be able to eat more than 1 cup at a time...The nut wants me to eat about 700 calories a day. That doesn't work for me. I work out 6 days a week for 2.5 hours...when I eat 700 calories I feel like crap! I cant make it through the day let alone my workout. They also say to eat 3 meals a day...I eat 4-5...So do I eat a cup each time? well probably not, but I do eat more than 3 cups of food a day.

So you probably just need to find what works for you...you'll get a fill and you'll just know.

I've only had 2 fills but I already think I'm over full. My 2nd fill was December 30, (7.4cc in a 10cc band) and I'm thinking I'm going to call my surgeon on Monday to see if I can be fit in on his Tuesday schedule for a teeny tiny unfill. The fill was done Tuesday but I didn't feel restriction until Thursday. Starting yesterday (Friday) I hurt every time I eat anything, even a yogurt smoothie. Because I can't get much down at a time, I'm getting hungry too soon. Also I had my 1st PB today. Can't possibly be getting proper nutrition this way.

i had a fill friday and I am having a really hard time getting anything down, even sips Water and clear broth. It hurts alot and everything comes right back up. I haven't read to much on here but my husband (who got banded the week after me, also had a fill on friday and is having no problems) says its called silming? I don't know all I know is I am wondering I should go back on Monday to get some taken out. I understand that some people are more sensitive to fills but how long do you wait before getting some taken out?

My doctor always says that if I can't get anything down, especially liquids, to call right away and arrange an unfill. I'm able to get enough down that I feel I can wait until his usual Lap Band hours on Tuesday. Oddly enough, tonight I was able to get down a bit of canned chicken and a whole grain cracker without problems. Hope I'm not going to be a bandster that can't eat until late in the day. Breakfast has always been my favorite meal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
