platue already

Recommended Posts

well it seems I have hit my first platue.... I had my first fill on 22 dec, and I have no restriction....... 6 cc's. I am really shocked too that I have no restriction. I am a little upset. But with using weight watchers...... I have not gained weight.

I have lost 24lbs.... It's great!

I am working out 3-4 days a week. I just needed to vent about this wall i've hit.

thanks for listening

Keri

Hang in there Keri. I had my surgery the same day and get my first fill on 1/6/09. I'm a bit discouraged as I'm not gaining but I'm also not losing. I understand that when the dr's get the fills to the correct amount, we will start to lose. So for now the word is patience.

I was banded 11/4, had my first fill of 3.5cc on 12/17, then a second fill today up to 4.5cc. My doctor seems to be going at this pretty slowly. But like you, I have been bouncing up and down within a few pounds since the 10 pound drop the week after surgery. I'm ready to start losing again too! Granted, holiday times are tough, and I wasn't as strict as I should have been. Maybe the band prevented me from otherwise gaining, so that's a good way to look at it. I'm hoping now that with a second fill, and the holidays behind me, that the weight will start to come off again. The dietician today told me that many lapbanders don't lose much in the first stages until the band gets tightened sufficiently, and everyone's sweet spot is different. I actually could feel some pressure in the stomach area when he was filling me today, which was very weird. Not really unpleasant, but it certainly is odd to feel something moving in there, where I've never felt anything before. Sorry for rambling, just wanted to let you know there are others out there like you still waiting for the band to kick in and do its share.

I was banded on 11/11 and have had one fill. Air got in the syringe so not sure exactly how much is in there. I do feel some restriction but I can definitely eat more than 1/2 cup. I just try to eat right and exercise, both are hard sometimes. I think I am somewhere around 18 pounds down but haven't weighed because of my friendly visitor. We can do it, we just have to be patient.

I too have experieced a platue. I was banded on November 14, and have lost 20 lbs since surgery. I went in for my first fill today and told the doc about my worries. He told me to be patient and that I am still in the beginning stages. He put 4cc in today of my 14 cc band. I hope it picks up though, but I'm glad I can vent on here especially to people who can relate. Good luck to everyone.:)

I am so glad I am not alone......I feel like a failure when I don't see the numbers going down on the scale.......

But I don't worry about it, and I track on!!

I have a follow up appt on the 3rd of feb, so hopefully I can get my next fill soon!

I am working out! Oh it feel so painful the next day. Working muscles that having been worked in a long time. But I know an ounce of pain is a pound of pleasure... and that is a pound gone!

Thanks ya'll !!

Keri

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
