January 2009 Exercise Challenge

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about joining a gym. Do you all belong to a gym or do you exercise at home?

I'm surprised at how much I enjoy my gym! I get a much better workout than I ever did at home, and I don't feel as out of place as I expected to.

I still do some things at home, though - Crunches on the ball, walking my dogs, some Wii Fit yoga.

Thanks! It is so expensive that I did not want to sign up and not use it. I start my free 7 day pass on Sunday so hopefully it is an awesome place. It is brand new.

Today: Just arrived home from work, so I don't have time to exercise. Again, another accident on blood alley took the lives of a child and adult, :sad:which delayed my home time.

I ran for 20 min straight! I was sure I wouldn't be able to do it, too.

So 45 min. on treadmill.

Last night was leg workout and another 65 minutes on elliptical.

This morning I set the wrong alarm and barely had time to get into work on time. Left calf was extremely tight this morning and has not loosened up today. That coupled with DD apparently having the flu and DW needing to get some errands done, looks like today is out completely.

I had a rest day. My triceps were happy but my quads are still killing me. I think I may have to go to two rest days a week.

Woke up this morning and left calf was better but still stiff. Still came in for 45 minutes on elliptical. Glad I did it, calf got better as I was on it.

I'll be going back up after work this afternoon for another 45-60 minutes.

ha, don't think that one is possible.

actually DH and all his cowboy loving buds are pulling for NY - they hate the eagles much, much more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
