I only lost .6. I guess that is better than gaining. I just feel a little discouraged. I had my first fill last wednesday and am still hungry.

You can still be very proud of your loss. Remember it's not what we lose each week or even month. It's the end goal that really matters. It's going to take time. We didn't put this weight on in a day, month, or even a year. And so it's going to take time to get it back off.

Most people need several fills before they reach their sweet spots. Not very many people hit it after just one or two fills. Remember it's not the fact that you still get hungry it's the fact that you do have restriction and that you work the band to the best of your program.

Hungry is a sign to us that tells us that our body needs nutrition. Even after you hit that sweet spot on your fills you should still feel hunger 4 to 5 hours after you eat. But you shouldn't be able to eat as much too.

So work your program and thus with time the weight will come off! :)

Pete, Thank you for all the encouragment. You are right on the perspective I need to have. I had lots of restriction at lunch today and I think my body was telling me to be patient. My next fill is February 4th. My husband says I should just look at the inches I have lost and how my clothes feel. This website is so aewsome because your comments were just what I needed.

Hi All,

Wow, I can't believe how much I am learning from you all. 1st of all, I feel great about the 30 lbs I have lost since my pre-surgery liquid diet. However, I am at a standstill (well, gain and lose). After reading on here, I think my problem is salt. I am craving salt and Iron like crazy! So I have been eating a lot of spinach (covered in salt because that is the only way I can stand it) and everything else- salted. How can I break this AND give up carbs and fat and chocolate and caffine and carbonated beverages!!! It is not fair. What else can I do? Guide me!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
