Goal Rewards = Neat Trips

Recommended Posts

Hello Everybody,

Swirlgril posted a question about what we do to reward ourself when we reach goals. In non-food ways. Anyway there was a couple of banders who mentioned trips so I though a thread about neat trips for rewards would be a fun thread. So anyone out there who has been to some neat places post it here and let the rest of us know. Then we can dream and maybe keep ourselves motivate. In the meantime we can each save for our own special trip. If you have a link or a special picture include it so we can look at the place.

In my early 20's my husband and I went to Wrangell, Alaska to meet his biological family(he's adopted) anyways, he wants to return but I am really-REALLY embarassed because when I was there I was 80 lbs lighter. So my reward "when" not "if" I lose this weight will be a 2 week trip to Southeast Alaska. It is AWESOME there!!

Lisa,

We went to Anchorage, Alaska, several years ago and I would love to go back. We were there in late June and the weather was great. I love it and would love to go back and go further up in Alaksa and see more.

You KNOW I'm going to throw Disney World out there ;-) ...there's so much to do there, and the atmosphere is so much fun! If you want to plan a trip that way go to www.allearsnet.com for all the info you could ever want! And lots and lots of pictures!

A great reward goal for me would be a trip back to Vegas - we just got back from a week's visit over the 4th of July, before my surgery. I would LOVE to go back..........maybe I'd win this time. (Spoken like a true gambler!)

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
