Help! I'm not sure if this happens to anyone else, if it has could you please give me some pointers? Sometimes I get a pain in the left side of my stomach. Actually it feels more like right under where the port is. I didn't overeat, however I had maybe 3 cups of tea in succession since I was trying to warm up! This isn't the first time I have had this pain, but it is much worse tonight. I was banded May 1st and have lost about 50 pounds. I also have pretty good restriction, don't drink soda, chew gum or drink thru a straw. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you in advance!!

Every time I get that pain, it is gas. It can be very painful at times like there is something wrong. I normally take some GasX and it goes away. I even had a hard time getting comfortable it hurts so bad. Try an antacid next time and see if that helps any.

I have been having this pain on my left side too. It has been going on for about a week or so but it slowly fading away as the days go by. I was actually going to call my doctor on tomorrow to let him know about it. I thought it may have been gas or something like that. I got my first fill about 3 weeks ago. It only bothers me when I am walking or trying to get comfortable in the bed to try and sleep. I'll let you know what my doctor says that it may be and if you find out anything, please enlighten me!!

I have the same thing - it kind of feels like that pain you get when you're working out/exercising really hard, and maybe you're not getting enough oxygen? Today I tried to 'breathe through it' like I would if I had gotten it w/exercising, and it seemed to go away. I drank a lot of Water too, thinking it might be dehydration. I'll ask my surgeon when I see him in a few weeks.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
