Should I get fluid taken out?

Recommended Posts

If I have severe heartburn all the time? Im worried that if I get Fluid taken out I will stop losing- although I havent lost in 2 mos. anyway since last fill ( total of 8cc now), but this is very uncomfortable and I have been dealing with it for 2 mos.

Does this mean I need fluid taken out?

Thanks-

Heather:crying:

I say probably...call your doctor and ask him for guidance!

I had the same problem with heartburn and over the holidays, I was eating more, so I thought I needed a fill. When I talked to the doctor about it, he said it sounded like I was too tight.

I thought I was treating myself to holiday favorites, but I had subconciously leaned toward slider foods. Weight loss stopped and the heartburn was awful.

I'm scheduled for a slight unfill under fluro on the 16th. Since my appt I've tried to eat the right foods and they simply won't go down, I'm forced to have protien shakes and soft foods until I can get the unfil. I can now see how being too tight can hamper weight loss. I'm actually looking forward to getting back to normal.

Good luck to you and let me know what you doctor tells you.

I had a fill 3weeks before Thanksgiving and had a terrible time until my next appt, on the 2nd week of December/ I told my Dr, that I had been "throwing up" on the average of once every day or so. He was concerned that I might have a slip if I continued doing this so he didan unfill. I feel no restriction and have gained 5 pds in the last 3 and half weeks. I know that it is all my fault for eating all the wrong things over the holidays and intend to get back on track right away. I would rather have to try harder on my own than to be too tight and suffer a slip. Wish me luck. Jenhay

jenhay,

Did he do a complete unfil? I'm planning on only getting a tiny amount out. Now I'm nervous about it.

I've been wondering if I should go for an unfill myself. I got a fill a week ago Monday. I wasn't even sure I needed a fill. It had been since September and I was loosing about a pound a week. I was content with this, but there seems to be this pressure that I should be loosing more quickly. Anyway, I got the fill and had such a tough time. I couldn't even keep my own saliva down, much less food or drink. I ended up calling my doctor's office and he met me at 11 at night and took 1 cc out. (He had put 1.5 cc in.) I kept on soft foods and liquids for the most part. Last night I had a tiny piece of chicken and have been vomitting pretty regularly for hours... having the same problems as I did when I first got the fill. I couldn't sleep last night. I haven't tried to eat in almost 12 hours, I keep throwing up this saliva that seems to be increasing in production. UFF!

smanda, that sounds awful! How long did you do liquids after the unfill? I would try liquids for 2 days and if you are still too tight after that, have a little more taken out.

I was too tight with 6cc and had .4cc taken out now I have very little restriction I can eat way too much of anything. I'm afraid I'm going to gain weight because I'm able to eat too much I trying not to but I'm nervous.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
