How ya going from sunny Brisbane

Recommended Posts

Hey folks

I was banded in april this year 2008 and have joined this group in the hope of getting some motivation to help me loose the weight I thought I would have lost by now!!! Had such high hopes after surgery but have only lost 10kgs and most of that was in the 4 weeks post op. On the good side at least I am not gaining.

I do however know what I am doing wrong....alcohol is a down fall plus the mindset that ok I have a band but I can still eat what I want...and believe me with 8ml fill I can still eat bread, meat you name it and still eat a fairly decent size portion.

So ladies (and gents) my 2009 IS going to be the year I loose this weight and the diabetes. Exercise bike is out of the garage and in my bedroom winking at me to use it and use it I will (oh help) My aim is to be below 120kg by end of Jan 2009 (3kgs) amd hopefully down to 115kg by my birthday in March.....this will be the lightest I have been in 11 years!!!!

So my new friends and hopefully weightloss cheerleaders I need your help....any tips handy hints or bottom kicking you can hand out would be wonderful.

I am so lucky that my insurance company paid the full cost of my surgery and I am wasteing this golden opportunity.

Wish me luck

Kayla

Hi Kayla, seriously girl, what r u thinking, if you can still eat a large portion, just dont put so much on your plate and MAKE sure you drink some Water, although i do believe that you are on water restrictions, hhmmmmmmm, still, the amount you drink in water shouldnt affect brissys dams :-) what about walking, you have beauftiful beaches up there, make use of them, if you live near one that is and if you can get to a beach, walk on the soft sand, it is harder to do, but better for your muscles,, aarrrgggggghhhhhhh, sorry, was just thinking of the pain that causes, hehehehehe, but seriously, soft sand walking is the go, and you only need to start with 10 minutes a day, and after a week, do every second day at 15 mins, then week 3 make every day 15 mins then next week make every 2nd day 20 mins and so on till you can manage 30 mins each time you go out walking.

I hope you have a great 2009 and i wish you luck in your efforts with weight loss

Hey Donna,

Oh babe I know everything you said to me I know already!!!! My cousin had her op two weeks before me and she has lost a whopping 27kgs I spent christma day with her and that when I thought ok wake up call you need to sort this.

The beach idea is a good one I do live by the bay but time is my enemy working full time with four little ones and a sometimes 2hr commute both ways to work. I am a nurse and should know better but I have been cycling 10 mins each morning including this morning new years day before I headed to work!!!! how good am I and a half hour swim/frolic in the pool with my boys when I get home......the amazing thing is even in less than a week I feel like I have more energy. And my boys love mum in the pool with them.

Thank you for replying to my thread hunny I appreciate it.....glad I found this group.

All the best for a lighter fitter 2009 xxxxx

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
