luvdband 0 Posted December 30, 2008 I am wondering if I am coming down with the flu. Has anyone experienced it after being banded? I certainly don't feel like eating, feel weak, achy and most concerningly...nausea has set in... Any advice? Wretching is not something I think I should be doing. RestlessMonkey 7 Posted December 30, 2008 Actually the "FLU" (achy, fever, etc) doesn't have nausea/vomiting as an effect! If you are getting the FLU, there's drugs they can give you to minimize it. If you have a stomach bug (people call it stomach flu but it isn't...it's just a virus or bacteria...) your surgeon can prescribe an anti-nausea medication for you. At any point, whether you have the flu, or a stomach bug, or BOTH (entirely possible)...one doc or another can help you out. You don't want to vomit if you can help it, and if you do have some sinus thing, that can be causing the nausea (post nasal drip etc without getting toooo gross) So call your surgeon for a prescription to phenergan, then call your pcp if you have a fever! Good luck!
Surby 1 Posted December 31, 2008 Zofran is your friend. Call the doc and get some! No more vomiting!
neveragain 9 Posted January 3, 2009 FWIW, be a little careful what kind of advice you give to people about this kind of thing. You don't know their medical history and that can change things a little. Either way, GO TO YOUR DOCTOR.
sandielaw 0 Posted January 3, 2009 You're right...vomiting is probably not something you want to do. My recommendation: get lots of rest, drink plenty of fluids, and call your doctor about medicine options.
