SweetCori 0 Posted December 30, 2008 Hi all! I'm Cori from Michigan. I'm getting the Lap Band surgery on January 12th. This has been a LONG time coming. Years ago, I was in the process of trying to get it through my insurance company while I was working. I ended up losing my job before I could get final approval, but that's all I was waiting on. This past summer, the opportunity came up for me to get it again. This time it's Self-Pay. So I don't have to go through all the red tape that I had to before. I'm very excited and anxious at the same time. I have a very close friend who had it done, so I'll have some support from him also. I also have my family backing me all the way. They all want me healthy and happy again. As far as I see it, getting the surgery shortly after the New Year means starting off the new year the right way! With a new me! Along with being heavy, I also have Cerebral Palsy. Its a very mild form, just affects my legs and how I walk. So the extra weight hasn't helped with my getting around. So losing this weight will help me with that.
MissBS 3 Posted December 30, 2008 Hi Cori. Welcome to LBT and congratulations on getting your surgery date. It will be here before you know it. I am excited for you!! I was self-pay too and it is a much easier and shorter process. It sounds like you've got a wonderful support system and that is so important!! I have a family that has helped me too - we are lucky, aren't we? I have high blood pressure and just this week, my doctor cut my meds in half and said she doesn't think it will be long before I am off of them completely. Most of us have some medical issues and losing this weight and being healthier is what it's all about!! Good luck to you. Keep me posted on your progress.
