Ok...this is going to sound weird. I am having sinus issues since winter started and if I eat too much or something is taking a bit of effort to work it's way through the band I can feel pressure in my face.

Any other weirdoes out there like me? :tongue2:

I had a lot of sinus issues before but found a way to get rid of them. After I take a shower, I cup my hand and snort a little warm Water up my nose around 3 times and clear it out. My sinus problems have dissappeared.

This might sound weird or uncomfortable, but it is not after you try it a couple of times . . . and it is only Water. It made all the difference in the world for me.

Now that I think about it, my method is just an extremely low tech version of the sinus rinse suggested by kgloverii. However, it works for me and I was a pretty constant sinus sufferer before and spent tons of money on OTC sinus meds.

I just started using the NeilMed nasal rinse a few weeks ago, Katy, and I cannot believe what a difference it makes. I use it at least once a day.

A lot of people think it is this crazy, icky thing, but my ENT suggested it (before I had unsuccessful sinus surgery) and it has been a godsend. I told my mom about it too, and she SWEARS by it. She is immuno-suppressed and her transplant doctor said it is a great thing to help her stay healthy. Anyone I have ever told about it has thought it was weird, and then they try it and can't believe they didn't try it sooner. Glad you see the value in it!

I have sinus issues as well, so I know what you're going through... I've found that washing out my sinuses daily has REALLY made a HUGE difference... I also don't get sick NEARLY as often... This is what I use and it is a God send... NeilMed Pharmaceuticals, Makers of Sinus Rinse, NasaFlo Netipot, Nasal Irrigation

I need that SO BAD right now.... :frown:

I know what you mean, I have had 4 sinus surgeries and will probably be having #5 before to long..A sinus rinse is a good thing..Unfortunately, I am allergic to most everything....But surely not related to the band..

I irrigate my sinuses at least once per day using salt Water in a neti pot. It is a strange feeling to pour salt Water into one nostril until it runs out of the other but I've not had a sinus headache or infection since I started using it almost 1 year ago (a record for me). I got mine at Whole Foods but there sold many places now.

I also use a neti pot and found that a sensitivity to wheat and gluten were causing sinus and ear problems.......

Irrigation helps alot......takes some getting used to but worth it

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
