Wow weight is dropping off

Recommended Posts

If you are feeling dizzy or lightheaded I would be sure that you are getting enough Protein each day. I am 1 1/2 yrs out and I am half way to my goal but I can always tell days that I do not get enough protein because I have the same type of things, dizziness, headaches and not feeling like myself. Congrats to everyone on how well you all are doing and for having the courage to go down this lapband road, it is not a strait flat road but a beautiful trip down a bending, winding, raising and falling road. So enjoy the trip, look around and take a deep calming breath.:frown:

Congrats!! My weight is FINALLY starting to drop off as well! I spent a bunch of time in Bandster Hell before my first fill, but now that I'm at a decent level of restriction, I'm losing steadily!

Am minus 18.4 lbs as of this morning!! YAYYYYYYY!! I actually LOST more than 2 pounds over the holidays -- a first!

I was only dizzy after I ate. For example, for Breakfast I had some oatmeal, then about 5 minutes later got dizzy. I had a Protein Shake 2 hrs later- no dizzyness. At lunch I had cream of chicken soup- 5 minutes later got dizzy again (almost like a reaction to the food itself). I had another Protein shake a few hrs later, then cottage cheese for dinner. No dizzyness after either of those. Do you think the oatmeal and Soup had more sugars (carbs) which caused a blood sugar change?

My surgery was on December 16th and I'm down 34 lbs total. I did a 14 day pre-op diet and I just started purees today. I know this can't possible keep up - if it did I be at goal within the next 2-1/2 months!

I not only expect a slow down because of starting on food again - but most likely a slight gain. My pre and post op diet were so incredibly restrictive that the weight just fell off. That type of diet is impossible to sustain.

Thats what it sounds like. Might be sugar levels going up and down. Your bodies on a rollercoaster right now and is trying to heal so it takes alot out of it.

I am sure it's fine but you might want to just put a call into your nurse/doc to check.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
