I used to be a fan.... But, lately she's just a wack job.

Wack job? hmmm...definately good adjective there girl. Oh and maybe Tom Cruise's couch jumping rubbed off on her...okay back to the debate...

LOL... Yeah, what's with her worshipping certain celebs? She gets all mooney eyed over some folks and outright disses a lot of them.

I think over the last few years I've gotten tired of all that, too. Just like Beth (I think) said, most people are realizing the ME-ME-ME stuff.

It's sad, cause like I said, I really used to like her and I'd have been here defending her. But, I can see the shine starting to fade.

It could have started with the V-Jay-Jay comment. It was all down hill from there.

She's an overpaid muppet with a box of Ho Hos under one arm and a list of fake books under the other.

OMG...:) That is the funniest thing today!! I agree, she is a totally friggin fuk*tard and if any of you listened to her foam at the mouth about Obama (whether you are for him or against him is IRRELEVANT), she talked about how she had a friggin poster of him in her bathroom and everytime she took a bath, she prayed he would get elected one day. Then, she said she realized that one day could me any day, that she wanted him elected in 2008, so she prayed while taking baths that he would be elected and then, he was elected.

I suppose "The One" was elected because the ALL MIGHTY Oprah prayed for it in her bathtub-naked!:)

I dunno, tap, do they do that? Not questioning you, just honestly never thought of them verifying whether a story is true as being something they do.

Reputable publishers are supposed to do fact checking for publications which are non-fiction. I guess that with the volumes of manuscripts someone was not as thorough as they should have been. Additionally, given that this man and his wife have been lying about this for YEARS, it might be difficult to track down the truth...after all their story was based on events of over 60 years ago.

I blame the man and his wife for this fraud - not the publisher, nor any reviewers (including Oprah)

Now, back to the regularly scheduled R&R...although I notice a distinct lack of Oprah supporters.

What I found funny was the irony that Doperah got burned again after having it happen once before.

Tapshoes~I believe it depends on how the Publishers actually promote/advertise the book. BUt most importantly, if Oprah is going to try and make a show therefore make money off of another persons work, SHE and her STAFF should verify that what they are promoting/talking about is in fact what they say!

It is called RESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM (Yes, that goes for TV talkshows as well). It was Oprah's responsibility, period!

Cool, I learned something today.

It is as though she is a bit too cocky and sure of herself. She no longer has to follow basic journalism rules or rules of society.

I think she's a putz.

I used to really like her, but I am really sick of her now. Everytime you turn on the tv she's there saying "I'm so embarrassed." Whatever. She should have retired a while back before she got so cocky and annoying.

I must agree. She should have retired before her popularity started on a decline.

Publishers are in business to make money. I don't really expect them to be vetting this and that. But if someone is going to promote something on their show, they should make sure they understand what it is they are promoting. It's their integrity on the line when they endorse something, no one else's.

That said, all she had to do was say "This story really moved me; I have no idea if it's true or not and I don't think that matters because a good story is a good story." and she would be off the hook. I think it was dumb of her not to promote the book that way after some of her past experiences.

Did any of you read "A million little pieces" or whatever the hell that stinker was? My wife was all wowed that it was a true story. By the time I got 30 pages in, i knew it was a crock.....

You can't fly on an airline all bloody and with an altered mental status like Mr. Fry (I think that's his name) described.

There is no legit dentist in the States that would perform that procedure with no anesthesia.

The point is, clearly nobody checked up on this. Mac is totally right......if it (and this new piece) were simply presented as a good story, then all controversy could have been avoided

I didn't read it, plain, because it looked stupid. Plus, I lived the dysfunctional, abussive childhood so I have no urge to relive it through someone's version.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
