snacking troubles

Recommended Posts

I am flowing along nicely 3 months post-op, 47 pounds lost. Until recently, first thing I noticed is I'd have this "oh crap" I lost more weight thought go through my head when I stepped on the scale. Then I'd think to myself, are you crazy? Don't you want to loose weight? You just paid 12,000$ for this surgery. I think there is some part of me that doesn't want to loose weight. About a month ago I've stared snacking. You know just sneak over to the fridge when your not really hungry but feeling somewhat unsatisfied. Sometimes I say a firm no to myself and other times there is this " I want food" in a Homer Simpson voice that overrides all my intellect. The pinnacle was Christmas of course, it should be better now that most of the temptation is out of the house. I get all nervous before my fills, start thinking that I really don't need an other fill and that the food I eat now is just the right amount and all kinds of other silly rationalizations.

:) So please tell me that there is someone else out there with the same crazy thoughts as me and that it is all just a silly phase and will pass soon.

8_6_47.gif P-Body, I think this may be some what a normal occurrence. I feel that at times. I have to fight through it but I usually do. That is why sometimes I lose the same 3 lbs over and over. Good luck.

First of all, big hugs. Isn't losing weight a bear?!

Okay, now I want to tell you that it isn't a phase. It's a habit that you'll have to really work on to break. Well it's a habit you'll have to really work on to keep at bay for longer and longer periods of time, because it will sneak up on you here and there.

But the good news is you can change the situation in your favor! You recognize you are doing things that are unproductive to your goals. You have tools to do productive things or you can create new tools.

They can be a silly as Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz clicking the ruby slippers together saying there's no place like home. But you can say, "There's no place like feeling good about my choices. When I eat crap, I don't feel good. I will not snack." Then you feel good about yourself, and you go and smile in the mirror or do something else that makes you happy.

I know I make it sound simple. It's as simple as all that, but as hard as accepting it too.

Good luck.

Juli~ Great post!

P-body~ Remember this is a lifestyle change, and snacking is part of the change you have to make. It is a tough one to break - I have the same challenge. I find myself in front of the fridge or cabinet and have to make a conscious effort to move away and do something else.

It is great that you recognize this pattern, that will definitely help you overcome it. Try to come up with something that you can do in place of eat. Maybe just having some more liquids would help - drink some Water and that will fill you up.

This is a learning process and this is something you will need to work through. In the past you started to lose weight, thought to yourself, "great" I can snack. Now you have the band and it will help you eat less, but you have to work with it to make that happen.

You can do this, you want to lose the weight, or you wouldn't have gone to the extreme of having the surgery, this is just a stage you have to work through!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
