I was banded nov 24th. Have had no problems up until last night. I believe I have the flu. I have body aches and diarrhea and vomiting. I feel miserable and I am concerned because I having trouble keeping fluids down. A few sips of light gatorade and some ice chips . Now my head is pounding. I really don't think this is band related because of the symptoms. I just don't want to cause any damage because of the vomiting . Anyone out there experience this and what did you do. I'd appreciate any advice.... Thanks Bill:cry_smile:

If it is still going on tomorrow, contact your doctor for a prescription for phenegren or something similar to stop the vomiting. You also might need a slight unfill if you have Fluid in your band to help with swelling and keeping liquids down. I hope that you feel better soon.

My doc gave me a prescription to phenergan to have filled and keep on hand for vomiting so call them tomorrow as my buddy Slim-n-Tn says. Hopefully it's just a 24 hour bug (real flu doesn't have vomiting and diarrhea) and will pass quickly. Try not to eat anything and once your stomach settles, just have Water and see if you can keep it down (or some gatorade if you have it) you don't want to vomit if you can help it.

There is an over the counter medication called Nauzene that I have found at Walmart and the local grocery stores. It works really well and can be useful in a pinch until you get a script for your doctor for anti-nausea meds. It is a chewable tablet that tastes good and is band friendly . . . best of all, it works.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
