TRICARE Adjustment

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if TRICARE pays for fills? If not, what on average does a fill cost? If it takes several fills just to get to restriction, this could get pricy.

I'm not sure yet, but I go for my first fill on January 15. Maybe someone else will post before that so we'll know! Tricare did pay for my entire surgery and my stay at the hospital (I only stayed for 1 night).

I am tricare standard and haven't paid for a fill but not sure if that's my surgeon, or tricare, or what. I guess I should've checked but I was so glad tricare covers the surgery; I figured I'd pay for fills out of pocket if necessary.

If you need to budget (something I SHOULD do! LOL) call your surgeon on Monday and ask. They will know! If you dont' have a surgeon yet, call tricare.

I am Tricare prime and was banded in Jacksonville, FL by Dr. Cywes. With his practice, once the program is paid for, you are covered with them for life. The program (the surgery cost) was completely paid for by Tricare except for a $200 fee that had to come out of pocket.

The only problem I foresee for me is I am not sure what I am supposed to do when we are due to transfer. I figured when the time came I would just get another refferal from Tricare. At least I hope that is how it will work! Hope this helps. Christy

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
