Had Surgery Tuesday & Esophagus Spasms Horrible

Hi Everyone,

Surgery was a breeze but these esophagus spasms are unbelievable! It feels like I'm having a heart attack everytime I swallow or burp. I haven't been able to sleep more than 2 hours at a time, the pain is bad. The doc said it's normal, to drink and walk - but I don't want to drink when I know how much it's going to hurt when I swallow. Has anyone had this ? How long did it last, I'm on day two and it's the same amount of pain. I don't have any other pain, maybe the esophagus is a diverson from the incisions - but honestly there not painful at all compared to swallowing. :sick

i too had my surgery on tuesday. I had the dry heaves when i woke up from the general anesthesia. they kept me in the hospital over night and on morphine until i left. They sent me home with liquid lori tab and told me to sip sip sip sip sip. i am three days out now and I still feel twinges of pain in my belly. but I am also trying to keep up with the chewable GAS X that was recommended by other bandsters in my area. That really has helped to eliminate the bloating from my gut and to keep the burps at a minimum. Hopefully it will work for you too.
