Banded in Alabama

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone I am a Bariatric Coordinator for my local hospital and new Lap Band patient myself. I had surgery Sept 23 with Dr. S. Robbins, lost 19 getting ready for surgery and have lost another 23 since surgery. Feel Great, loving it. Gone from a size 20 to 14. Though my job is bariatric surgery, I need support just like my patients!

Thanks for your reply. New to the lapbandtalk.com. Having to figure things out. No regrets on the lap band. I have only had 2 fills, were you more successful after each fill?

8_6_45.gif Welcome. I am also from Alabama. Everyone has different restriction with different amounts of fills. It depends on your body and band. I have found out bands are finicky. I think anyone that has been banded for a while will agree with that. I had good restriction at #4. But could have been better. Didn't get 1 this month and regret it now. Can't wait till Jan. so I can get another fill. My Dr. is here once a month. I don't want to drive 1 1/2 hrs to get a fill, or I would get it sooner. Good luck on your journey.

I have had greater sucess with each fill but i also had a small band(4cc) so my fills were not very big but made a huge impact. I am holding around 2cc in my band. So i have reached my weight goal but maintaining is the next step. Hope everything works out for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
