CONGRATULATIONS Greg - aka Lapbander - on your new and very first granddaughter!!! She was born yesterday...and I'll let Greg give you all the details so I don't steal ALL his thunder!

Let's just say he is on cloud nine and it may take him a LONG time to come down....but he is the happiest and proudest Grandpa alive!!

And I wish him all the best and long happy years of bouncing her on his knee....since he now has lots of room to share!!!

She is the luckiest little girl around and could not have picked a better Grandpa if she picked one herself. And he is going to spoil her rotten.....hope she inherits Grandpa's wit, charm, intelligence, caring, personality, conviction, and all those things about him that we all love most!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am so happy for you!!!

Sincerely.....Nancy*

I'm happy for you Greg,

My mother always told me that being a grandparent was better then being a parent

You can always give them back when they act naughty :laugh

La Madame's Mother is absolutely right! Being a grandparent is awesome fun, my grandson's learning already that grandma is his homegirl.

Congratulations Greg, and god bless your new angel!

You are in for the time of your life ! Even though I enjoyed raising my children, there is nothing to ompare with the joy of grandchildren. For one thing, I am older, and I know they won't break, I have more money to spoil them with, and I am patient. It is so wonderful when they climb up on your lap and snuggle with you. Congrats on joining the grampa-gramma group!

Thank you Nancy.

And thank you all for your kind words.

Madilyn Grace was born at 1:58pm 7/27/05 weight 7.6 and 20.5" long. She has her ten fingers and ten toes and is gorgious beyond belief. (I'm bias so shoot me...lol)

Well she is just a little over 24 hrs old. Still not walking yet but the Dr said she will when she is ready. Since I will be taking care of her while mom and dad work I'm requesting they try and get her potty trained by Sept. when mom goes back to work.

I'm hoping the pictures post ok

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
