Ok confession time - who "fell off the wagon" during the holidays?

Recommended Posts

I'll step up as the first confession. Christmas day I ate more than I should have... Nothing in comparison to what I used to eat, but, I did overeat...

I know it was wrong - sue me!

Anyone else care to be the next one to throw themselves "under the bus"? Have some integrity - admit it! I know I'm not the only one :-)

I'm not sure I did. I did have a small slice of pumpkin pie (without the crust). I AM craving a steak sooooo bad though :tongue2:

I fell off the wagon and good thing I landed on my chubby a$$! I can't help myself when there's lasagna in the house. I make a delicious lasagna. Last year I fell off the wagon too, and gained 3 pounds between Christmas and New Years. I'll have to wait and see the damage for this year.

The best part is that my band keeps me from falling off the wagon and keepin' on going. I know that I can lose 3 lbs. in a week if I follow all of the bandster rules and get some exercise, so I'm not worried about gaining 3 lbs. I'll take it off next week.

Best wishes to all of my fellow bandsters. Happy, Healthy, New Year.

Sue

Ok ya'all I am not a December bandster, I am an oldster... August 2006 and I fell off the wagon too. But the good thing is we can all recover! There is only failure if you accept it!

I ate too much fudge, my damn brother made it. I am so glad he got the cooking gene and NOT me.

I don't feel like I fell off the wagon at all. I'm on mushies. I had some chocolate and some ice cream but it was Christmas!

My portions are nothing like they used to be so I am easily losing right now!

Really the only way I fell off the wagon was in the food choices but not the amounts. My wifes family is fully aware of my surgery and that made it very helpful. It's funny though even with them knowing I had my surgery done the things that others will offer like soda and beer. LOL - I had no problem telling them no thank you.

At Christmas dinner I did have ham, yam, and cottage cheese. The ham I used the Pampered Chef food Chopper and diced it right up real find then mixed it with mustard and a touch of LF mayo. The yam of course was mashed with just a touch of butter. It sounds like a lot but I really had the small small amounts to keep within the diet. They had pecan pie for desert and I did not partake. But then again I don't like pecan pie. LOL

Pete,

According to my doc, we CAN have soda or beer. Preferrably diet soda or light beer, but it MUST be FLAT - and of course, in moderation!

I for one can stomach flat beer, but, I drink so rarely that it doesn't matter much to me.

He said to pour the beer or soda into a glass and let it set in the fridge overnight and it would flatten up good. It's the carbonation that causes issues.

Right exactly it is the carbination in soda and beer that we're not allowed to have. For me it's not an issue. I haven't had a soda since the middle of October and I don't miss it. I am not a drinker so turning down beer is no big deal too. I have been the type of guy that a 6 pack of beer would last me 3 plus months at a time. I really have gotten very used to drinking Water. I will also have Crystal Lite and Iced Tea. I am not a coffee drinker at all so that's not anything I would drink.

Well, a pre-new years eve confession - I am going to have a couple of shots of Cruzan coconut rum. One of my employees gave me a bottle - wife and I are going to enjoy ourselves without going overboard.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
