Hi, I am also from Longview. I was banded in Monterrey Mexico on May 12th, 2005. I have only lost 30 pounds to date. But I struggle daily to stay on track and not eat the wrong things, or try to eat past the band. I go to Portland for my fills, my next one, the second one is the 25th of August.

Hi, Kathy,

Finally someone from Longview area to talk to. I had my surgery in May 2005. My surgeon was Roberto Rumbaut M.D., Monterrey Mexico. I just hit the fifty-two pound mark. It seems such slow going, byt if I had a little more time to get a bit more exercise, I am sure it would help. But basically, I am sure I am a bit lazy.

I am a hair stylst, have been for twenty-five years. I work in Kelso at Simplicity on North Pacific. It's a new salon, and I love working there.

I am married, for the third time, but for nearly seventeen years, I have four daughters, all grown, but in the area.

I would love to meet you, or at the very least talk on-line or whatever.I understans that you are in Castle Rock, well I grew up in the Seaguest Park, Silver Lake area, on Van Horne Road. Oh so many years ago!

So, if you are interested in having a fellow Lap-bander as a pal, give a holler.

My full name is Pearl Brown my number is 577-3511. Hope to hear from you.

Have a Happy and Bountiful Thanksgiving,

Pearl

Hi Pearl,

Like I said in my post I don't come here often. I came today because I am having some health problems and don't know where else to turn. As soon as I get this figured out I would love to meet up.

Sorry it took so long for me to respond, hope your still hanging around here.

Kathy

Hi! I am in Winlock, just north of Longview. I am trying for insurance, but also looking into going to MX. Has anyone had their insurance approved by Regence? Love to talk to you!

Hi, I am in Longview. Did not have Regence, I have Cigna and it was a no go with them, so I did go to Mexico, with not one regret. I went to Monterrey Mexico. My surgeon was Dr. Rumbaut.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
