I have a question and I dont know if this is normal or not so please help me. I went to go see a new dr about my lap band b/c my other dr was an  anyways the new dr put more in my band a total of 3cc's its the first time I have truly been able to take 4 or 5 bites and be full. But here is the thing and maybe Im just not use to it yet but like to drink a protien shake in the morning it takes like 30 min and I have to sip slowly on liquids or they will come right back up or its like im constantly burping up whatever I drank? Is this normal-Im able to eat food and I love this new retriction I have its great. I just wonder is my band too tight or is this just the band really working?

I am finally filled like you are and figured out this is the way it's supposed to be. I thought I might die of malnutrtion but it's loosened up a wee bit and I'm losing weight again.

It's supposed to take 30 miutes for a meal! Or drink! Yikes!

I am in the same situation as you are. I got my 3rd fill, which the dr. said is 'just shy of 3cc's' two weeks ago and for the first 1 1/2 weeks, it really kicked my butt! I never burped until this fill. I was at being able to eat only 2 bites of a Protein before feeling too full to continue. A friend of mine who has been banded 4 months longer than me suggested that I ride it out for a few days before scheduling an unfill. I'm so glad I took her advice. Now at about 14 days- post-fill, I am restricted but I am able to get more Protein down. IMO, if you can get fluids down then the band is not too tight now and it is really working like it should. And now the disclaimer - please check with your physician to be sure. Good luck.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
