Okay, I'm two weeks out today. I've been on liquids but I think it's time to go to softer foods. My Nutritionist had to cancel my appointment for tomorrow and my next appointment isn't unitl the 7th of January. I need to know what I can eat now. I've done well on the liquids but I need something else. Help me please.

First....relax. I am only 12 days out and eating almost regular food. Take it slow and move on to soft foods. I started with cottage cheese and Soups. Now I have had chicken breast (very juicy and I chewed it up until it was almost liquid) and salad. Just make sure you are getting plenty of Protein and take it slow. I haven't had any problems except a little gas pain in my left shoulder if I wait too long to eat something.

Good luck!

Can't you call your doctor? Mine's on call. He got a bunch-o-bucks for performing the surgery (and he's a genuine nice guy) and he is available for me whenever I need to ask something.

I think asking if it's okay you move to mushies is reasonable. You really should do each stage of healing closely following your docs orders. It's only like 6 weeks.

I would give your nutritionists office a call to see what they suggest. They should also have given you some kind of generalized nutritional guidelines in your paperwork as well.

Most of us move on to full liquids at this stage such as cream Soups without chunks, but not quite on to mushies yet.

I completely agree, maybe mushies, but hold off on the soft foods just yet.

try some mashed potatoes, tuna, chili in a blender, scrambled eggs, baked Beans, even christmas dinner....in the blender that is.

Good Luck!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
