Hard Boiled Egg

Recommended Posts

Hello!

I've been banded for a little over 6 months now and decided to have a hard boiled egg for Breakfast this morning. I thought I had chewed carefully, but about 20 minutes later, 45 minutes later it was still in my esophagus and I kept bringing up pieces. I finally ended up PBing it. Not sure what the problem was because I had HB egg in my tuna last night. Maybe because it was the first thing I ate today...

I have been banded almost 4 months and I can't eat a hard boiled egg plain any time of the day. The yolk gets stuck. I have 2 hard boiled eggs each morning for breakfast mixed with a little mayo and mustard. For some reasons two hard boiled eggs keep me fuller than two scrambled eggs.

I can't do hardboiled eggs either. I can in egg salad or deviled eggs but not dry...no way! It is too dry and thick and I nearly chocked on it. Soft boiled is better.

The ONLY way I can eat eggs is in egg salad. Mix hardboiled eggs with a little Miracle Whip light and mustard, salt & pepper. But like most people this has to be for lunch or later. The only thing I can stomach in the morning is a Luna Protein Bar and coffee.< /p>

Can't do a plain hard boiled egg either. I soft scramble mine with milk, make deviled eggs with curry (YUM), make egg drop Soup on cold days, or beat one in with some ricotta cheese, pour spaghetti sauce over it and bake it with parmesan and provolone on top. YUM!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
