I was just banded on 18 so I know how you feel! I did weigh myself already and i'm down another 4lbs! That is a total of 16.4lbs since the optifast! only 99.8 to go! I am excited to. The other night I saw a girl in a short jean skirt and I wanted it so bad. But just think in a year I will be able to wear it!

Hi Newbie, How are you feeling? I've been wanted to get banded for a while now but i'm still looking for a surgeon. Is it painful? How long do you think it'll take to get back to work? Do or did you feel weak? I'm sorry for asking all these questions:blushing: but i really want to get as much information as i can so i can know what to expect. Thanks

It's been exactly ONE week since the surgery, and I am feeling GREAT! I needed pain killer for 2 days (in the evenings I would tend to get sore)...and that was it. I have spent the last couple of days shopping, with family, etc...and I've been just fine. I think I could EASILY go back to work right now.

The surgical tape for 2 of the 5 incisions has already fallen off...which is good.

I was very "tight" for this week, but I guess as the stomach swelling goes down...I am starting to feel a little hungry.

Still on Soups, slimfasts, liquids, etc. Until Tuesday...then a graduate to purees.

Feel free to ask away. I was a NUT when I was researching this...and asked a million questions...I'm happy to pay it forward.

xo,

Jody

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
