Could use good vibes..........

I am very scared, and totally nervous. I can't believe that I am already at my first fill date.

my mind is going crazy, as my body is so scared. I walked a mile tonight. I want to go and fill my stomach up and eat.......that is what I used to do. But I didn't I had dinner which was egg beater eggs, and some cheese in them.

I am not hungry. I can honestly say my head hunger is still overwhelming sometimes.

Thanks all for any encourging words....

Keri

Don't be scared. Although there are some scary stories out there, most people don't even feel their first fill. It is typically not painful to have the fill. I know that I could not really tell a difference after my first fill. It really depends on whether your doctor is aggressive with his fill. Most of the doctors are not. They build on the fills to allow you time to get used to them. You will do fine.

Good luck to you both!

It can be, but then it is all relative. 3cc to you may not do anything. You want to remember that stress can affect how your fill feels, so try not to borrow trouble. I had close to that amount, but I never really felt it. The only real difference for me was eating white bread and white rice fast. Just take it slow and follow what ever instructions for the first few days after a fill. Remember to sip liquids slow, and also to take smaller bites. It will take some getting used to.

My first fill is Tuesday, and I'm not nervous at all. Maybe I should be, but surgery went so well, that I'm not worried. I'm more concerned that after my fill, 9:30 a.m., I'm driving 5 hours to family's house for Xmas. So I'm just concerned I'll be okay for the drive. Doc says I should be fine. Just a little local tenderness at port site.

Also sad that I'm not gonna be able to eat crab Christmas Eve and prime rib on Christmas Day. But it's not like I've ever indulged before, so I'm okay with whatever the fill brings. Keep me updated everyone!!

Merry Christmas.

Try not to be so nervous! My doc puts me on 2 day all liquids, then 2 days mushy, back to normal foods, just be careful at this time. You may be a little hungry from just the mushies. I have had 8 fills, 8cc in a 10 cc band. No fail, for each of these fills, it takes 6 days for the "new restrictions" to kick in. Doing the liquids first after a fill lets your stomach rest while the saline levels out in the band. I have seen other time-frames for restrictions from other bandsters on here. The plus here is, this also jump starts your weight loss again. Remember this is a journey. Ususally on the first fill they will use the FLouro light and let you drink that white barium or something like that and watch you swallow and see how it goes down through the band. If your insurance pays I would suggest they use the Flouro, that way they can maybe get more saline in at a time, they will also allow for the extra morning restriction that comes with the band as well. Mine attempted to get an pecil eraser size trickle down through the band. Good luck on your journey.

First fill today for me too...I too am a little nervous.

I have instructions for AFTER the fill, but are we supposed to be doing liquids or fasting BEFORE it?

So is flouro is the best?

I hope he can be a little aggressive. I have 2 hour drives to get to him, and the miles on my van are costing me alot!

But I will be good and patient

Got mine done. Wasn't painful but wasn't a walk in the park. He had to stick me about six times, but I was numb, so no pain, just a lot of pressure. He put in 2 cc and I already had 3 cc from surgery, so I now have 5 cc in a 10 cc band. We'll see how it goes! Good luck to you!

I had my first fill today - I have been somewhat restricted since surgery 6 weeks ago. I have been able to eat anything - just in moderation. My appetite did increase the last week but I was not eating as much as I had before surgery. I feel restricted today from my first fill - I hope it lasts!

Hi, great info you gave us. I had my first fill a week ago, 12/23 and it didn't hurt. Didn't feel much of a restriction, ate regularly on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day, just small portions. Then as I was driving home on Sunday, (5 hour Drive), stopped midway for coffee and made a horrible food choice at a fast food place and had a horrible rest of my drive home. Felt awful. Same thing happened on Monday, eating something (Good food choice this time) and and sliming still occurred. I didn't realize that it took few days for adjustment to take effect. That was a question I had, too.

Good to know. So I'm back to liquids and pureed foods, and things seem to be going better. I'm down six more pounds since fill. Thanks for info.

I just had my first fill earlier today. The doctor numbed the area with a small injection I hardly noticed. Instead of fluoroscope, just drew back to see how much was in there. It had about 1.4 and she added 2.1 to give me 3.5. I couldn't keep Water down, so she pulled .5 back so I have 3.0. No problems at all after that.:) I've had tea and Protein Drinks. For pre-fill, they ask you not to eat before you come in, and are limited to liquids for 24 hours. We'll see tomorrow how things go, but she said not to expect much, if any, restriction until my next fill.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
