I was out xmas shopping yesterday, and had to eat lunch, out. So I went to Wendy's for the first time since being banded. Its not my favorite anymore but it was a busy day. I thought when I got home about my typical meal before surgery (which I was usually still hungry from) vs what I ate yesterday. Thought I would share:

Before - Baconator Meal/ FF & Diet Coke - 1,300 calories

After- Jr. Cheeseburger/ Small FF (ate about 1/3) - so I figured at the Wendy's website -350 calories max.

No wonder I was busting out of my 44 pants!

Good job Dennis. Wendy's chili is my favorite fast foods options. Very good and also healthy. Sometimes still miss the baconator, but not enough to go back to the 44 inch pants.

Its horrendous isnt it? I mean, I cant even *imagine* eating something called The Baconater even pre band.

I was a pretty restrained fast food eater pre band - didnt do it often, always got the small sizes, etc., never drank coke. But even so, it adds up very very quickly.

It certainly feels good to be able to eat fast food and keep it under 400 calories.

I had a routine physical at my doctors office a little while back and needed to fast for the blood work. I had a 2:30 pm appt. (was rescheduled from the am). Needless to say, I was very hungry by the time I left his office. Across the street was a Burger King. I walked in famished and ordered a whopper mushroom melt thing meal (for the record I very rarely eat fast food, even before surgery). I was only able to eat a little more than half the burger (no bread), a small handfull of fries and threw away the rest of the meal. This is why I love the band, even when I mentally slip up, I get that physical reminder.

Pre band at Wendy's i would have gotten a double jr. cheesburger deluxe and medium fries and I usually went for the Frosty. Post band I have been to Wendy's once and got the small chili and that satisfied me more than my pre-band choice ever did. I don't even bother with "burger joints" anymore.

I do go to chick-fil-a once in a while, that is my first fast-food choice if I am on the go and need something to eat. Also, DH loves Taco Bell so out of convenience I have eaten there once or twice (if he wants taco bell for dinner and I don't want to cook for just me). Preband it would have been a taco pizza and two soft tacos, now I just order the taco pizza and can barely eat 1/2.

I hear ya. I used to order 2 jr. cheeseburger deluxes, a biggie fry, a large frosty, and a biggie coke.

**

now... I order the 5 piece nugget, a side salad, and a jr. frosty. I eat 2 nuggets, throw the other 3 away. Then about an hour later, eat the side salad. About an hour after that I enjoy the frosty..

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
