Hi Annie, I was banded on the same day as you and have about the same beginning weight and goal weight. I live in Houston. Facing the same dilema trying to find alternate sources of Protein.< /p>

Thanks JMS462001 and TQUADS64 for all of the good information. I will try mixing the tuna. If it is too wet, does that take away from the Protein? And I will take you all's advice and try samples of protein before being a specific brand because everyone's taste is different.

Have a great day!

I guess I still have some restriction. I don't have it real wet, but it is not dry either. It does, however, satisfy me for 3-4 hours. One thing I did find with the eggbeaters was that I can add plain Protein Powder to it and not notice that it is in there. It is the only food I have mixed it in that I have not minded. I haven't really put it in many foods, but I don't care for it in oatmeal.< /p>

How did your fill go??? I go next Tuesday for my first. I eat regular eggs with cheese too sometimes. I really think eggs are very healthy. I alternate with the eggbeaters. I think we need to remember to get our good fats every day too. When I make eggs, I use olive oil and I use that heart healthy mayo in the tuna. Cutting out all fat is so unhealthy and will cause problems in the long run. This may be why many banded people on here (older ones) report Hair loss, low body temperature (feeling cold often), lack of energy, touchy digestive systems, and stalled weight loss.

I like Unjury and Optifast. Unjury has 20g of Protein per serving. You can mix it with skim milk. I actually make a shake of one Optifast packet and one scoop of Unjury with Water and ice in the blender. 36 grams of protein. I don't really eat breakfast--I make a shake and drink it on my way to work.

My fill went fine. He only gave me 2ccs. So far I have not gotten anything stuck. My fill did not occur until 4 p.m. and by then I was starving. Nothing seemed to satisfy me until I actually ate some refried Beans today. Tomorrow is supposed to be my first day of mushies after the fill. So in the morning, I will probably have cheese eggs and a shake for lunch.

The doctor also put me on Citracal+D (1200 mg). I bought the petites which are smaller and supposed to be easier to swallow. Wish me luck on not getting it stuck. I was disappointed because I lost only 1 inch in the hips, but I lost 3 inches in the waist.

Well, let me try to get in some more fluids. I seem to be having a hard time doing this. I do not want to become dehydrated.

Take care!

Jackie

Hi Kim: I am Jackie and not Annie. Hopefully this message was intended for me. How are you?

I worry daily about getting enough protein. I definitely do not want any Hair loss. Have you had your first fill yet?

Well, you didn't mention any pain involved with your fill so that was promising!! Do you feel more restriction yet? No problems eating or still mushies? I ordered some calcium citrate in chewables. I tried swallowing my cut halves at bedtime last night and that was a big mistake. I had to stay up an extra hour because they just don't go down for a long time and I can't lay down. I have no problems with my other meds. How's it going with swallowing pills after the fill? Hope you do great with your fill!! 4 more days for me!!

Hello and Happy New Year! I did not have any pain with my fill at all. With the fill, I stay full longer. I have had no problem eating. I had to go back on full liquids for 48 hours and then on the mushies for 48 hours. Then on Sunday, I can start regular food. So far, I have not gotten anything stuck. I have no problem swallowing small pills. I think I am going to purchase some chewable Calcium pills. I hope your fill goes well.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
