Hello to all. I am new to this. I am just in the research stage of seeing if this surgery is for me. I definitely have 100 lbs. to lose and a BMI of 46. I am calling my insurance monday to see if they cover this. I have BCBS/Illinois and I have to say from what I have read Im not so sure that is going to help!!! I hope to hear from anyone with same insurance or whatever. Thanks so much, Good luck to all. Merry Christmas!!!!

Since you're shouting out to people with your insurance, you might want to move this to the "Insurance and Financing" forum...you should get some hits that way!

Good luck.

Sorry I guess I posted in the wrong area. I was told to post in the introduction area since it was my first time. Thanks!!!

You don't need to apologize or anything! I just wanted you to get the info you asked for and that area is full of insurance-related posts. I assumed you were new and unfamiliar with the site. It has taken me a while to get the hang of navigating! But there's no "wrong"...just some forums have more of a certain type of info, is all!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
