Any other December 30th Bandsters to be???

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I'm Steph in Minnesota and I will be banded on December 30th. I'm looking for other people who will be banded the same day to keep in touch with and to support each other. I would love to hear your story!

Thanks and Good Luck!

I am a December 31st. Bandster to be! I am Jackie from Florida. It stinks to be on the 2 week pre-op diet through the holidays and still keep everything "normal" for my sons and husband. Its torture with the Cookies, gingerbread house, candies, etc. (of course they can and will eat everything in sight without gaining an ounce.) I think I will order in this Christmas, seriuosly, like Boston Market or Honey-Baked Ham. There is no way I can cook a Christmas dinner without snacking on it. We also decided not to travel so I can control what I eat.

Oh, my goodness this is going to be harder than I thought. I think trying to do this right at the holidays is like extra torture...I just made Cookies with my daughter and ate some..I'm really hungry today for some reason.

I am almost in tears and its only day 2. I think if it were a normal work week etc. then it would be easier to distract myself. We're having a blizzard right now and watching movies...

AH!!! what do I do?

I am so with you Poodles...My kids are home now for two weeks, and they want and eat everything in sight without issue, of course prepared by me. I had Jello for a snack earlier and I searched the market high and low for sugar free/carb free/low sodium food because I am petrified that they will cancel my surgery if my liver is too large. If its cancelled, forget it, I can't pay out of pocket and my insurance changes to a HMO Jan 1 (Hence why I am just under the gun for 2008). I brought a pouch of tuna with lemon flavor. Not bad and subsided me a little bit. When I get stir crazy, I search the discussion board and read!

Thanks for the sympathy...:) I'm doing the same thing and trying to read the boards etc. to stay occupied.

Get this...I know its in my head b/c we're watching the Grinch right now,,,,I was feeling hungry and sad when they talked about the roast beast, that is crazy! It's so hard.

I also have no support from my husband. He has made it clear that he doesnt mind if I do this but it can in no way effect him. He has no plans to not eat in front of me etc. and I am still expected to cook etc....soooooo,,,now I am also feeling sorry for myself on top of hungry....

Hi gang, and thanks for the response!

It is difficult to be on pre-op through the holidays, that is for sure!!! But I keep thinking that I will be having the best New Year ever and finally will be able to stick to my weight loss goals! I'm in a size 22/24 and hope to be down to at least a 16 by Summer! I keep that in mind and the pre-op is not as difficult to stick to. Also, posting helps!

Too bad about your husband- I'd tell him to jump in a lake, but that's just me! :)

We should be able to focus more on the meaning of Christmas, rather than the Eating of Christmas!

Take care and post often!

It is really hard around the holidays and I get alot of support from home and co-workers etc. But I think it is a little more difficult in this month due to celebrations and festivities. My husband is supportive, but I do not think it is fair for me to change their diet and cook "differently" for them. Its hard enough that I am not as festive as usual and choose not to travel. So I just carry on as usual and when its mealtime, I go in my room with my shake and a diet soda:rolleyes2:

I tell my husband to throw away all leftovers down the disposal when they are finished eating so I am less tempted to take a bite of the leftovers.

What is everyone's pre-op diet? Mine seems extreme (shakes, yogurt, and clear liquids).

Mine is 3 shakes plus a small meal. I am now eating the left over salad I made for dinner. At least its something and in comparison to what you described its excellent.

Did you have to lose weight before the surgery? I wonder why different Dr.'s have such different diets.

How are we doing today everyone?? I did pretty good yesterday on the liquid diet. Drank two shakes, sugar free Jello, diet soda, chicken broth, and my only "cheat" was a hotdog

I know, I know, but I did not have bread with it (of course) and I tried to find a food with the lowest carbs and sugars. A hot dog had only 1 carb and no sugar. (I don't know about the other stuff in it!).

8 days left and counting......

Banding- Dec 31st, 2008

I'm getting banded on Dec 29... in Mexico. Scared shitless. I started to get the voice in the back of my mind screaming, "run the other way". But I've also had that voice before things like marriage, and I know people here have had second thoughts, but not regrets. My thinking is that I just really want this to be the last time, and if that voice in the back of my head, (the one that's telling me 'no',) is right, I will feel like such a fool. I really hope that I get through the surgery ok and use the tools available to have a healthier, happier life. Ok, writing has made me come in off of the edge. Now let me just have a surgery sans complications....

Good Luck Trini! I hope things go well, I'm sure they would. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Travel safely.

How is your pre-op diet coming?

I am being banded December 30th at 10:am in SA, TX by Dr. Cavazos. My holiday preop actually starts tommorow. I cannot eat any red meat or fatty foods. On the 29th I can only eat Breakfast followed by Clear Liquids, and do the bowel prep that afternoon and then no liquids after midnight. I have been able to enjoy the holidays. This group needs to stay together and give ourselves a name so we can stay together and chart our progress.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
