You have done the right thing in making an appointment. How soon do you go in? How long has this been going on? You might need to go to the ER if your appointment is further away than Mon. or Tues. I am not a dr. so I can only speculate at what could be going on. I don't know if I would wait the weekend before going to the ER. If you can eat, (can you drink) there is a possibility of becoming malnourished and dehydrated. I pray that it isn't anything major, and you get it delt with quickly. Keep us posted please.

Hi:

My doctor said to call if there was pain. There shouldn't be any pain once you've healed from the surgery. You should probably call your doctor and see if they want to see you sooner. You may want to stick to liquids until then. Remember, if you cannot keep liquids down it becomes urgent for you to get medical attention because dehydration can be very serious.

Best wishes and I hope you feel better soon.

Sue

well i switched to liquids and am seeing if this will correct the issue... the bad thing is... my appt isnt until the 29th :tongue_smilie:

the burning has gone away but it feels like everything i drink is having a hard time moving through my esophagus (sp?)... and when i take a deep breath it feels like there is some pressure in my stomach... almost like there is something in there... but i havent eaten anything solid since 4 am this morning

i havent been the best bandster the past couple of weeks but i didnt think i was really doing anything to casue a serious problem...

Im gonna give it until monday morning and if i am still having the same issue im gonna call my doctors office and damand a sooner appt... this has me a little freaked out...

and thank you "gone 4 ever" for the kind words... i just hope there is no permanent damage done

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
