Can anyone feel their band?

Recommended Posts

I am 3 weeks post-op. and my tummy right above my belly button is still so swollen and kinda hard. Today I was doing dishes and when my tummy pressed up against the counter it kinda hurt. Is this my band I'm feeling? anyone else feel this? it makes me think this is my band because its more noticeable after I eat.

I don't know why it would be more noticeable after you eat, but what you're feeling/seeing is your port. Your port is where they inject the saline that tightens your band, and the port is placed just under the skin, typically in the area you're talking about.

you're welcome!

and just so you know, i'm 6wks and 2days out from surgery, and my port site is still somewhat sensitive to the touch and when i strain to pull myself up off the couch, or strain to lift something heavy, i can feel it at my port site. i bet it'll be at least another month before i forget it's there. i don't mind, it doesn't hurt really, i just didn't realize the discomfort would stick around this long!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
