Financing out of pocket costs?

Recommended Posts

I found out today that I need to pay my surgeon $1500 before I have my surgery. $500 must be paid at my appt on Tuesday and the rest must be paid by 3 days before surgery. I'm planning on having surgery in January. This is the out of pocket costs and deductible and program fee that I'm required to pay after insurance kicks in their part.

I know there are companies out there that will provide financing for medical procedures, but I was wondering if anyone knows of a good reputable company that would give a loan to someone with not so great credit (I had a bankruptcy 7 years ago).

Thanks for your help.

Tina

I don't know if they will finance such a small amount. Have you asked in the financing and Insurance section. There are lots of past threads about financing you can look up too.

Hi

I just got banded two days ago. I also paid out of pocket. I used Capitol Health Care Credit. You just apply on their website and get an answer immediately. Just google Capitol Health Care Credit and when you get the website, go to personal loans. It was easy. Hope this helps.

good Luck

Thanks everyone! Last night, I found the Capital One Health Care site that provides loans for "cosmetic" surgeries and lap band was on their list. I applied last night and within 90 seconds, I was approved!!!! :huh2:

Guess I can continue on as scheduled for my surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
