Need to Poop - constipation

Recommended Posts

I'm exactly 1 month from being banded and since I started mushies I only poop once a week and the last 2 days before it's time to go, I feel like my colon is about to burst. The Constipation is awful. What can I do to regulate myself since they say I should be going more often?

Need help......:huh2:

I have started taking a stool softner every day. My dr. said to either do that or take Miralax. That stuff is expensive, and the stool softner does the same thing.

Benefiber - flavorless and you can add it to anything!

Benefiber does absolutely nothing for me other than give me gas. I have tried it. I thought that would be the answer, but it's really no help for me.

i went through the same thing but probably at about 5 months out...i didn't poo for 10 days!! i was soooo uncomfortable. I would be so hungry but nothing was coming out so nothing could go in. My mom told me to take a laxative which totally just freaked me out! but after 10 days i went and got some, along with prune juice and Fiber tablet (i'm not sure what kind) the combination of just buying it scared the poo right out of me! thank goodness!

make sure you're eating enough fiber! i wasn't eating any! I eat a yoplait + yogurt every single day...if i run out and haven't bought any more, i can definetly fee the difference! so my advice, make sure you're paying attention to your Fiber intake along with your Protein intake.

I was out of balance in my fiber intake. Too much soluble fiber and not enough insoluble fiber. Benefiber and many of the foods I was eating is high in soluble, but you need a good balance of both. I made sure to add dark greens (spinach, green beans) and whole grain brain (Natures Own Double Fiber), and I'm pretty much back to normal.

Make sure you drink lots of water! Just Water alone will make a difference. Also, have a glass of apple juice and if that doesn't work - eat some dried apricots. I haven't had to resort to the apple juice or apricots yet because I have been regular every day with the water. I also eat either a yogurt or pudding every day so it could be the dairy that's helping.

I have always had a problem with this even before the surgery. A little swig of Milk of Mag in the am does the trick for me.

Pysillium husk- miracle drug. comes in powder or capsules. It works great-I asked the doctor if I can take it an dhe said yes.

Triple Leaf Super Slimming Tea works very well. It's very gentle and does not have any ill side effects. Drink a cup right before bed and when you wake up in the morning, you're literally good to go.

Where do you get this tea? Is it in a regular grocery store?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
