Any one use Dr. Daniel Huacuz-Tijuana?

About the deposit-

many other surgeons/clinics require a 1,000 dollar deposit. Dr. Huacuz only required $500....but in keeping with the industry, I do believe the deposit has or will shortly increase to $1000 as well.

When you schedule a procedure, Dr. Huacuz isn't the only one involved. He ensures all other healthcare professionals are ready- like cardio, labs, radiology, anesthesiologist, etc. You don't pay them, he does out of what you pay him. So not showing has consequences for alot of people.

Juan Carlos Fuentes requires 50% deposit (yes, half)

Luis Suarez requires $500

I have no problem with deposits. I have a problem with deposits over $500 that are non refundable should you change your mind within a reasonable period of time. If you don't show up, I totally get it. They should keep the deposit. But if you cancel say... a couple of weeks ahead of time, do they put it in writing that you get your $500 back?

That's a good question and should be a sticky-

for those who paid deposits for surgery date AND either cancelled or changed the date-

1) did you get your deposit back

a) if so, how long did it take

 if not, what was their reason

2) did you reschedule with the same surgeon

a) if so, was there any type of change of date fee

All good questions- open to any surgeon- no matter where they are located. And this is for all patients-self pay or insurance-doesn't matter.

I liked the whole exsperience with Haucuz, he and his staff were great. I went for a fill after surgery and the Md could not fill it.She said it was not right that it was flipped. I called chewing ass! He assured me that it was not flipped like she said. He also offered to re do what ever he needed to. I went to a local surgeon and he was able to fill my band by touch not floro. My fill Md. calls me Paco because I chose to go to Mexico. I hate it but he fills my band. I explained if the State were not so HIGH and we would not have DAMN exclusions ( I was insured at the time of surgery ) Then I would have had it here in the US!

Do your research before settling for this guy. He is accused of killing one person's father and banding somebody's esophagus on this site alone.

Hello, i know that these posts are old, but has anyone been banded RECENTLY by this doctor? I live in Canada and I am thinking about getting banded in November. I am paying for it myself. I do take comfort in the fact that since i do live in canada, should there be any complications after the surgery that are life threatening or cause me pain, i am covered by my free healthcare. If it is neither painful or life threatening however, I am on my own

If you have anything you would like to add that you think I should know, that would be great also.

-Thanks!

-Danielle

Well, there is a difference of $9,000. It is $16,000 in Canada plus a 13% tax , and Mexico is $6,200. I simply cannot afford to get it done in Canada.

Maybe I should have made my font a little bigger on the last post.

Is putting your life at risk worth saving a little money?!?!??!??!?!?!?!

There are good surgeons in Mexico but I don't think this guy is one of them. DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!!!

Don't freak out about having surgery in Mexico. I brought my Daughter today to INT hospital through the beliteweight web site.

Felt at ease from the moment we met the driver Alberto and the staff was amazing and so kind. Dr. Rodriguez Villerreal performed a wonderful surgery and we'll be going home in two day's. She's very excited to start her new life. I myself was banded 10/08/08, in America but I had the best insurance and paid nothing out of pocket. It would have cost her $17,500 plus aftercare by the same DR. I had. Here it cost $5,400 and well worth it.

Good Luck!

I had my surgery done there in Summer 2006. I have lost over 100lbs and kept it off 6 years later.

The hospital was cleaner than any I have seen here in USA. Very kind and caring staff. I would recommend him.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
