Megoingdown 0 Posted December 18, 2008 I was banded in June of this year and thus far have lost 40 lbs. My third fill was on November 20th. Throughout this whole process I have been bringing up slime. What actually is this stuff? It is very rare for me not to "slime" during a day. I am so thankful for the days that I don't. You may say you didn't chew enough, ate too fast, etc.. but I have been very careful. In fact, sometimes it is just on my very first bite of food that this happens. Othertimes during the day I have no problems eating anything. It has even happened on Soup already. Other than wanting to know what the "slime" actually is, what are the consequences of this constant vomit/burping up? The pain gets so bad that I get the drive heaves and sometimes heave 5-6 times before something comes up. It comes to the point where I feel like I can't breathe while I['m heaving and at some times, get rapid heart beat. It actually feels like my esophagus goes into spasms. Tonight I had an episode again and my chest (heart) was hurting. When this happens, it averages about 5 times of dry heaves/throw up. In one episode alone (heaving several times), I can fill an 8 oz. cup almost to the top. Any input would be so helpful. I'm getting disgusted with it all but still am glad to have gotten the lapband done.

It sounds that you need a slight unfill, because if you are chewing well and slow enough and it is happening, then you are too tight. It sounds like you may also be experiencing some anxiety issues during your heaves. You should speak to your doctor about that.
sistasassy 6 Posted December 20, 2008 I think a slight unfill is needed too. I know I had quite a bit of slime when I was filled a bit too much.
bambam31 168 Posted December 20, 2008 Yep... I vote small unfill... Variances in band restriction (stress, hydration, time of day, etc) may be the difference in sliming on first bite or last but sounds like you're a bit overfilled. Brad
