christmas temptations

Recommended Posts

Well I did so good over Thanksgiving. I actually lost a pound that week. But man, all these goodies around right now are killing me. All the baking that my family and I are doing is so tempting!!!!! Anyone else having problems??

Yes....I am having a problem with Holiday candy around the house...I also did not work out this weekend. It is getting hard to work out but I am really going to try to still do it during the rest of December......

I know it is very hard. I try to stay focused. Especially don't want to give in with all the hard work that everyone puts into losing.

Due to the economy I stopped most of my baking and gift giving, I sent cards with notes. One branch of my family is having a "Yankee Swap" everyone brings something, less than $10 and we open them and swap them with the person before us if we want their gift. It's a lot of fun and can be totally hilarious. We then eat (I'm making a healthy Greek Pasta salad). It's this Sunday afternoon. I hope we don't get too much snow, we have a big storm tomorrow and I had a "Red Hat Christmas party" to go too, and got word they canceled it and will have it on the 26th instead.

So I don't have any temptations around the house. I am going to make a healthy dinner Christmas day for the family. A nice rib roast, and lots of veggies.

Just hang in there and not eat the goodies. You will be so proud of yourselves when you lose a pound or two and not gain any.

The Sees candy is fyling around the office and yes I have had a couple of peices. I do indulge in sweets, but not to the extent before pre-band. Pre-band, I would have ate the whole damn box 1-pound box. Post band, I am satisified with one or two pieces.

Moderation is key, plus exercise to burn those holiday calories.

Yes, the last couple of weeks have been my biggest challenge yet. I am indulging in many sweets and not exercising regularly. I am pretty much at optimal fill, so I can't eat too much of anything. I've actually lost weight and broken through my plateau. I want to keep this momentum up, so I gave away all the Cookies I made and I'm going to the gym tomorrow- in a snowstorm. Although I'm a little disappointed in my choices lately I know I'm doing MUCH better than I ever did without the band. We'll get through this holiday season and maybe even lose weight for the first time!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
