i'm coming close to my 4th month at the end of december and already have lost 55lb. i'm pleased with the progress and truly feel that i would not have had this kind of outcome any other way. i'm interested most in talking with other people who are at the same stage as i am. but i woud love to chat with anyone about lapband. i look forward to being a part of this community

Hey I was banded in August. So I am a four monther. Great you are right on track with your weight loss and I am close to that mark. Have you had any fills? I had my 3rd one last week and finally feel some real restriction. I have been watching my calories and trying to keep it 1200 -1500 a day. With daily walks and Water aerobics.

How old are you? I am 60 and well I haven't been fat all my life I once was very thin...my lowest weight was 103 when I was 21. I evened out to 110 till my late 20's and gained 50 lobs when I was pregnant with my one and only daughter. I stayed in the 140 range for years. Then my thyroid literally "died" and it wasn't diagnosed for at least 5 or 6 years. I gained then and was in the 180 range. I ballooned up to 245 in 2005, lost 50 with Nutri-System, gained back till I was 229 and stayed that way till the Lap Band in August.

I am feeling great haven't been this weight in years and this was the best thing I ever did.

Good luck, glad you found us.

Where did you have your surgery?

thank you for your encouragement. i feel like the time has gone by so quick. i lfeel like i was only banded yesterday. i weigh myself one to two times a week and keep a chart of my progress. i also have made benchmark goals of 20lb. increments so it doesn't seem like such a massive amount of weight to lose. i just focus on 20lbs. at a time and i reward myself with a massage or some other non food reward. how is the food going down for you ? i felt like i was on mushy food forever

Wow you have done so well for a late August Bandster. We have a whole group check the August 2008 bandster threads. We have a Friday morning weigh in also. If you feel too much restriction they can remove a bit of the fill. So far my third one is much better. I have not hit my "sweet spot" yet but hope too soon. They check the band and fill every 4-6 weeks.

You will like it here when I get down and am not losing, I come in and feel so much better I am not alone. Hope you continue to post.

Good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
