Hi everyone, I have been browsing your website for days. It's full of knowlekge.

I was banded friday and the gas is still killing me plus I hanv't had a bm since thurs. nite before surg. Is this normal? Also, i can only get down 1 bottle of Water in a day. I've been trying to walk, but probably not enough. I was going to go back to work today but put it off one more day.

Hello! I am new too, banded on July 14th! I just found this site, it is great! Question, what does PB stand for? I have had 2 I think, and all I can say is ouch and I'm glad I didn't throw up. My biggest fear is that my stomach pouch will stretch....I don't feel full lately and it's only been 11 days. I can drink and drink and not be full. This worries me, and I have tried some soft foods and not really felt as full as I think I should feel. Is my stomach stretched???? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

I was banded Wed. 7/20 and everything was great until the gas trap set in on Sunday, Monday and today....yes, I have taken every OTC med available, walked..etc..to no avail. I cannot even lay on my left side. My whole abdomin is killing me.

I called the doctor's office, and they said Di-gel and walk..yadda yadda... I know that!

Help, I am dying here!

Hi txdani!

Welcome to LBT AND to the banded life! :)

Having less BM's is very normal right in the beginning. Your system needs time to adjust to this new lifestyle.

I remember having to take Milk of Mag to get things moving right at first. But you may want to check with your doc and see what he recommends. :) WELCOME again!

Big Welcome to you too!

All of your questions and concerns can be answered in the information section on this site (what PB stands for and why you arent full on just liquids)

Happy reading:)

Hi and welcome:

The BM thing is pretty normal. I think it was probably almost a month before I had one but I also had three weeks where I couldn't keep anything down and was dehydrated.

PB stand for productive burp or belch. Basically you upchuck what is in your stoma (at least thats what happened in my case) or until whatever is stuck either comes up or goes down. It's a good idea to avoid this if possible.

There are lots of threads on your questions if you try a search.

Good luck and happy reading!

finally things have moved along in that area!! Yea!! I can still hardly drink or get some liquids down without having horrible gas pains in the upper part of my stomach. I am not hungry in the least but I know I need some liquids in. I have

gone back to work today and have drank about 10 sips of Water and the burps

and you know what have started. the bad thing is I'm a hairstylist and they just

slip out. Should I be able to get more liquids down than this or is this normal?

Thanks for all your input.

Dani

Dani,

I don't know about everybody else but that does not sound like enough liquids. I did not have any trouble drinking but I have always been big on drinking alot of Water and coffee. Try drinking something warm first thing in the morning. If you don't like coffee try some warm broth and see if that helps. You will get dehydrated if you are not very careful. By today you should be able to drink pretty easy I would think. Try the broth. Let me know how you do.

Lu Ann! My 7/20-Dr. Spivak buddy!

Are you feeling any better? I hope so. My sister had an awful time with gas, but I think I may have dodged the bullet (knock on wood). I took Gax-X chewables and walked a lot the first 2-3 days.

I hope it's not going to hit me now.

Get feeling better quick!

Colleen

Hi Joyce

Yes I am also concerned about getting dehydrated. Today was really tough at work. My energy level was almost none. I finally got some boullion from chicken noodle Soup down, and after I got home I blended a can of veg. beef Soup and was able to eat it also. You are correct the warmer liquids do go down much easier, I always used to have my Water very cold to drink but I'm thinking room temp will be better. For some reason Water has just been very difficult. I do love coffee so I'll try that first thing in the morning.

thanks so much

Dani

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
