Skin Problems since surgery!

Recommended Posts

Hi- I was wondering if any bandsters have had skin problems since surgery. I was banded in April & since my last fill in October I have had skin problems. If I get a cut on my legs it does not heal & scars. I have developed Rosacea on my face. I went to see a Dermatologist yesterday & he said I was dehydrated & need to drink more Water immediately. Also I need to take my Vitamins regularly. He thinks I might me Vitamin deficient & said I should get a blood test. Funny at my last fill the doc gave me a script to get a blood test to check for vitamin deficencies. I guess I should follow up.

I would definetly suggest getting tested for Lupus. My mother has it, and I know that people who want to get the lap band who have lupus are sometimes not even allowed to get the band because of it. Some of the symptoms include inability to heal or randomly occuring rashes that won't go away. Also, a "butterfly" looking rash or redness on the face is common. I don't want to worry you, but I got rashes and I thought I had lupus so I looked into since my mother has it. I haven't gotten tested yet, but it sounds like you have the symptoms associated with it. At least bring it up to your doctor and look it up online.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
