needtoseemeagain 0 Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) Greetings all, I have been enemic off and on for a long time. Now I am really enemic and hoping to be banded January 9th. I have been taking Iron when I can remember :blushing: (really trying to do better) but I don't like nor do I eat any red meat at all only chicken, turkey, fish & seafood. I don't want my low iron to be a reason to cancel my band date:scared2:. Any suggestions or ideas? :mad2: Pressing toward the mark, :rolleyes2:Raquel Edited December 16, 2008 by needtoseemeagain

The 60mg One I had and it taste pretty good it is lemon lime flavor. Here is the link for you to look st if interested. annjones 3 Posted December 17, 2008 In addition to taking Iron supplements, you can eat liver, dark green veggies, etc. My blood iron is slightly low and I sure can tell when I miss my iron supplements.
Buccfan 0 Posted December 18, 2008 My Dr. likes to make sure you are on the high scale of everything before surgery. All my blood test came back in the good range. He had me on extra Vitamin D some Multi Vitamins and I had to go in for some Iron infusion 5 seperate times and had a perscribtion for iron I had to take. Takes about an hour for the infusion. They put in a IV and let it drip in.
TQUAD64 9 Posted December 18, 2008 The only fast way I know to build up my Iron is taking an iron tables every day, which I do. I do this to stay healthy, but also because I donate blood to the local blood bank.

gadumplin 1 Posted December 19, 2008 Iron for Energy In addition to providing quickly assimilated carbohydrates, blackstrap molasses can increase your energy by helping to replenish your iron stores. Blackstrap molasses is a very good source of iron. Particularly for menstruating women, who are more at risk for iron deficiency, boosting iron stores with blackstrap molasses is a good idea--especially because, in comparison to red meat, a well known source of iron, blackstrap molasses provides more iron for less calories and is totally fat-free. rikye1 0 Posted December 20, 2008 Buccfan, We must have the same Dr? I am on my 3rd infusions and have the bruises from the IV's. Did you have surgery at St. Francis Hospital?
Mimilou2004 13 Posted December 20, 2008 One thing I haven't seen mentioned here is the inclusion of Vitamin C near the time of taking the Iron supplement. Any citrus fruit or juice will help the absorption of iron from the source. Mimi
Buccfan 0 Posted December 20, 2008 Yes, I was banded by Dr. srikanth at St. Francis.

lucyavery 0 Posted December 23, 2008 I agree with Mimi. Eat a steak and drink a glass of orange juice with it. Red meat and Vit C can do wonders for increasing your Iron. Lucy
aubrie 6 Posted December 23, 2008 Eggplant, if you eat it with the skin on, is a good source of Iron too. I love it and eat it all the time. It's good grilled, stuffed, stewed, and fried.
