Recommended Posts

HELP! What is going on? I am wretching and dry-heaving and NOTHING is coming up, but I can't stop it! My head is spinning....

Today, I had: 1 Protein shake for Breakfast (I had to drive 2 hours)

1 "energy" drink

1 liter of Water

1 Cup of Potatoe & Bacon Soup (lunch)

More water... and then.....

vomit, vomit, vomit and NOTHING - then like hour after dry heaving - actually started to vomit "stuff" up!

HELP!

No fill yet? Possible slippage? I'd call your doc, you need an unfill quick. Wait for a few more replies to be sure I'm right. Do you have a stomach bug?

I have had no fill since I was banded 6/21/05 and cannot get a fill until August.

I have tried to drink some Water and it is making me nauseated too... uhgggg.......

A stomach thing... maybe.... who knows because nobody else in my family is sick

I would get to the doctor for something to help with the nausea. You are still trying to heal from surgery and the dry heaving is NOT good.

Feel better

Do you have any phenergan suppositories around? Great for nausea. Call your band doc, definately. The vomiting needs to stop and you can't get an unfill with no fill! This isn't good for your band. It can either cause slippage or you have slipped and this is what is making you vomit. ??? Help me out here people!!

Maybe your band didn't like the bacon in the Soup? ? I now that my list says that bacon can be really hard to handle. ~Mandy

Oh my word! Uggg...

I am in a dorm room on a college campus 2 hours from home and almost 3 hours from my doc's office :nervous

I asked a colleague to get me some Pepto Bismol - she did and I took the prescribed amount - now I am just praying

OMGosh I feel really awful and have like 3 math manipulative lessons that can be used in a second grade classroom and 4 language arts lessons based on some book that i can't decide on and most definitely cannot focus on due tomorrow.... and 4 reflection papers (2-3 pages each) that are due on Thursday. All of this is making me even more ill, if that is possible!

OMGosh I feel really sick - my head is spinning and this room is making me sick

(walls are covered in dizzying red bricks and am posted at the rear of the north campus pizzeria - so you can only imagine how it reeks) OMGosh.. here I go again....

Oh my gosh, Wendy. I'm so sorry. Someone help!! What should she do?

Call your band doc and have a local 24 hour pharmacy phone number handy. Have him/her call in some Phenergan. I don't know what else you could take OTC without going through your stomach...keep us posted. I'm really sorry!!!

I have not dry-heaved since I took the Pepto Bismol. When I vomited, something actually came up... yucky, I know and I am sorry, but...thank goodness! Although did sleep a bit and just got up to see if I could hold my head up and get some of the truckloads of work done that needs to be done.

I also called someone from my church to come and give me a blessing so that I can feel better and.... :) get some work done...

ucky.. is all I can say

p.s. Also waiting for a return call from doctor.

Well, if something came up, then maybe you really did have something stuck, BAD! Seems like all that vomiting would get it up and out sooner? I guess it finally worked! Glad you got some rest, some extra blessings, and the stamina to get your work done. Stay away from bacon! And you do know that for at least 24 hours, you should stick to liquids only...don't go chowing down on real food tomorrow after all your banded stomach has been through. If i were you, I'd do 24 hours of liquids, then another day or two at least of soft foods, even mushies. Start over again! You have only been banded a month, take it very very slow and easy. Good luck. Get that work done and feel better! Let us know what the doc says.

Hey Wendy...been thinking about you. How did you fare? Did you hear from your doc? It sounds like drinking that Pepto might have done a few things: loosened up whatever was stuck so it came up and soothed your poor stomach. Have you been doing liquids since then?

Anyhow, hope you are well, give us the update!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
