Anyone surprised at port placement after sx?

Recommended Posts

Alright I can't help it... Am I the only one who thought the "sx" in the headline was an acronym for "sex"???????

I read that and thought "WTH's going on at her house? It sure aint happening at mine!"

Yeah, I wondered about the sx too!!!!! My idea about the port site was pretty much opposite. The surgeon quickly showed me and I'm sure he indicated it would be right under my left breast. Instead, it's on the left side of my lower stomach. I can't bring myself to feel for it!!!!!!!!!

yes mine is in exact area also but im a male

just banded 12/10. i don't remember much about leaving surgery center, didn't talk to surgeon afterwards, but now I am a little surprised at my port location. It is almost to the middle of my stomach and is about 2 inches under my left breast. I did not discuss port location with my surgeon (my fault) but when I brought a list of questions to the office I did discuss it with the Nurse that I did most of my dealings with before the surgery and the location she indicated is not where he port my port. Very difficult to wear a bra. Anyone else have this problem or have theirs so high up?

Thanks for starting this thread..I was banded on July 19. I'm doing fine other than the

The pain I have been experiencing since day one. My port is on the left side, left of the belly button. I'm sure it is a small port, but it feels like a small saucer.

When I bend over of move, it is painful. I have a high pain tolerance, but his is ridiculous . I won't be able to do much exercise in this

Kind of discomfort.

My last appointment is Wednesday. Then I'm on to regular foods. So if I can't convince him how bad this feels, I don't know what to do...

Please , I anyone out here can help me, please tell me what to do..

Thanks so much,

Bandit 31

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
