The Biggest Wiener!!

Hi Lins12-

Yep--I've got restriction now. I've noticed particularly in the morning.

I really appreciate my Doctor and their staff for recognizing my ability to "read my own body". I also like and appreciate the fact that they haven't stuck to any concrete timeline for fills. Like I said, I didn't really feel much if any restriction after my first fill, I definitely do now. I have my next appointment for a possible fill on September 16.

I have been getting my arse to the gym 3-4 times a week for the last month and I've been getting around 1200-1400 cals a day. I have lost, albeit slowly, but I am thrilled. I haven't been measured since mid July--I am curious about inches lost!

Let me know how it goes for you!

Sal

I couldn't even imagine getting a fill..standing up, OMG. I'm such a wuss I have to pretreat my port area with a topical lanacane something, cover it with plastic wrap, take 1/2 a valium before going, then I'm so tense the port practically sticks out on its own. They laugh now because I use different colors of saran wrap to match what ever I'm wearing, last time it was green.

Needles are no laughing matter in my book, I think I'm getting faint just talking about it, gotta go lie down now.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
