Hi there

I had my first fill 2 days ago & feel like a real bandster too! I made the mistake of having a couple of mouthfulls of Pasta and had my first Pb- it was awful, pain in the chest like I have never had before and then the food came right back up. That was when it really dawned on me that I am a bandster and need to be careful about what I eat.

For now I have some restriction, next fill not until mid January.

I have not had a fill yet. I get my first one on 12/22. I have no restriction at all and I have been starting to gain weight back. UGH!!! I was wondering if either of you had the same problem before you had your fill? I am hoping things will change after that. Right now I feel like this was a huge waste and that maybe this surgery won't work for me. :tongue2: I am doomed to be the fat girl.

Hi there

Don't worry, you will start to lose again once you have had your fill. I was lucky as my band was fitted with 2.5mls so I had a bit of restriction and I did lose some weight. The last week or so before the fill was tough and I had to diet.

Having the band is hard work and you have to work with it. once you get restriction the band will ensure you don't eat too much but you will have to make sure you eat the right foods to still lose weight.

I hope you don't have to wait too long until you get your fill because this is a really tough time of year with lots of temptation. My social life has hit a downturn because so much of it revolved around food.

Don't beat yourself up for putting on a couple of pounds, after all you are in this for the long haul, losing weight with your band is a marathon, not a sprint and sometimes you will hit a few hurdles along the way. You have to think positive and believe in yourself that you can do it and you will.

Very best of luck to you, keep us posted with your progress.

Sue

I was starting to feel like you until I had my fill. Not wonderful with restriction yet but better than before. I do feel fuller longer. I am still learning. I ate a peice of pork chop yesterday not paying attention and got stuck. Even though it hurt in my chest and was painful til i got it up it made me realize yes I am a bandster now. But i have lost 23 lbs but feel like i should of lost more by now. but someone said not sure who. this is not at race or marathon. Take it slow and we will get there at the end. So I am trying to be mindful but before my fill I coudl eat anything and like you was wondering if I had wasted my money. But now I see i need to work with my band and pay attention. Slow and steady win the race, hope this helps. we will take this journey together. Renea

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
